About Jellyfish

Irving Benitez (he/him) AKA Jellyfishlines, is a queer, trans masculine, multi-disabled, and schizoaffective TTRPG designer, Actual Play Game Master, podcast host and co-host, AP performer, and poetry writer from the Appalachian region of NE Ohio. Some of Irving's favorite moments with games includes seeing a players "lightbulb moment" when a game mechanic finally clicks, especially when a player only knows one or two games. Irving's dedication to the craft of game design includes the following core tenets:

1. You must uplift your peers as creativity only thrives when we all thrive. Create with your peers, talk with your peers, befriend your peers, hug, laugh, dance, and hold your peers close. Eventually, you might even find a family in some of them and you won't remember how it happened.

2. Be in solidarity with all marginalized people the world over. As a queer designer, Irving stands for the liberation of people from the chains that are colonialism, authoritarianism, and fascism.

3. Make games that give agency to the player(s) and help lighten the load on a Game Master. Input from everyone at the table and make everyone have a better time than they otherwise would. It helps erase the "adversarial GM" stereotype and when everyone at the table has fun, it's an incredible and life changing experience.

4. Don't defang your work for anyone. This goes double for creators of marginalized identities.

5. You must stay vigilant and love one another. It's the only way we survive.
